Gov. Hutchinson Announces Intent to Appoint Philip Taldo to Highway Commission

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Asa Hutchinson today announced his intent to appoint Philip Taldo of Springdale as the next commissioner of the Arkansas Highway Commission. Taldo will replace Frank Scott, Jr. whose term will expire on January 14, 2017.

Complete details are as follows:

  • Philip Taldo, Springdale, to the Arkansas Highway Commission. This is a 10-year appointment and will expire January 14, 2027.  Replaces Frank Scott, Jr., Little Rock.

Governor Hutchinson made the announcement at a Rotary Club meeting in Springdale Monday afternoon and has released the following statement upon the announcement:

“Few understand my vision for the state—from an economic development standpoint and beyond—better than my friend, Philip. That’s why I’m pleased to announce my intention to appoint him as the next commissioner to the Arkansas Highway Commission.

“Philip has served our state well in his current role on the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. Just as significantly, Philip has been involved in major infrastructure projects in Arkansas from his service on the Northwest Arkansas Council as well as the Northwest Arkansas Airport Authority.

“Our economy and our highways go hand-in-hand, and I have no doubt he will bring his experience and continue to provide the same thoughtful insight to this new role and responsibility.”

Philip Taldo issued the following statement:

“I am both excited and equally humbled by the opportunity and the trust Governor Hutchinson has given me. The Governor has consistently exhibited thoughtful leadership and a conservative approach to government while in office, and I am delighted to continue my service in his administration.

“I understand the key role our highways play in the economic growth and overall future of our state. This connection is vitally important, and I look forward to working with this already stellar group of commissioners to strengthen and improve Arkansas’ roadways, economy and quality of life for years to come.”

Taldo is Broker & Co-Owner Griffin Realtors Commercial Division and Weichert Griffin Realtors in Northwest Arkansas. He is also the President of One Springdale, Inc., a development corporation and Partners Construction, LLC, a residential building company.
