TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME – GREETINGS:
WHEREAS: Morrilton, located in the Arkansas River Valley, receives its name from Arkansas farmer E.J. Morrill, who sold the land that would later become the town to the Little Rock and Fort Smith Railroad;
WHEREAS: In 1883, Morrilton became the seat of Conway County and rose to prominence due to its strategic location with the railroad’s construction and its nearby majestic landscapes;
WHEREAS: Today, Morrilton is known for its proximity to one of Arkansas’ most beautiful state parks – Petit Jean Mountain – and is a popular spot for outdoor enthusiasts;
WHEREAS: Morrilton is also home to the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, and several large businesses like Green Bay Packaging, Lanco Industries, Sound-Craft Systems, and Petit Jean Meats;
WHEREAS: Governor Sanders’ “Capital for a Day” program highlights great cities around Arkansas like Morrilton and brings senior state government officials into town to meet with their local counterparts; and
WHEREAS: Morrilton will serve as the seventeenth “Capital for a Day” under Governor Sanders and will momentarily serve as Arkansas’ seat of government.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby name Morrilton, Arkansas, our Capital for a Day on November 17th, 2025, and invite our senior state government officials to join me in a visit to the city.
