Gov. Hutchinson Appoints Lucas M. Ferguson Prosecuting Attorney for Twentieth Judicial Circuit

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Asa Hutchinson today appointed Lucas M. Ferguson of Greenbrier as the Prosecuting Attorney for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit, which includes Faulkner, Van Buren and Searcy Counties. Ferguson replaces Cody Hiland, who was sworn in Tuesday, October 10, 2017 as U.S. Attorney of the Eastern District of Arkansas. His term expires December 31, 2018. 

Governor Hutchinson released the following statement:

“I am delighted to announce Luke as the next Prosecuting Attorney for Arkansas’ Twentieth Judicial District. His knowledge of the law coupled with his experience in both the public and private sectors, including his previous experience as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the Twentieth Judicial District, will serve him well in this new role. 

“I have no doubt Luke will do a sensational job for the people of Arkansas and the Twentieth Judicial District, and I wish him the best of luck.”

Luke Ferguson previously served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the Twentieth Judicial District.  Most recently, he has been employed at the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce and Conway Development Corporation as Senior Vice President-General Counsel.  He also spent time in the private practice of law in Conway with Hiland, Thomas and Cox, PLLC.  Ferguson earned his B.A. in Spanish and History from the University of Central Arkansas and his J.D. from the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law.  He is a longtime resident of Faulkner County and resides in Greenbrier with his wife, Jessica.
