Governor Asa Hutchinson Releases Statement on UAMS Chancellor’s Retirement Announcement
LITTLE ROCK – Dr. Dan Rahn, Chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) announced today that he will retire effective July 31, 2017.
Governor Hutchinson issued the following statement in response:
“Dr. Dan Rahn has done an exceedingly stellar job over the last seven years as Chancellor for UAMS. From the school’s research opportunities that draw the best talent from around the world to the role the university plays in the economic development of our state, UAMS has proven again and again to be a critical part of the Arkansas landscape. Dr. Rahn has continued to drive that expectation by providing the leadership, vision and guidance necessary to achieve the excellence we’ve grown accustomed to at UAMS.
“I want to personally thank Dr. Rahn for his service to our state and I look forward to continuing to work with him until his retirement in 2017.”
The UAMS is a branch of the University of Arkansas System. The state-run university hospital is located in Little Rock, Arkansas and is the state’s only Level 1 Trauma Center. Dr. Rahn has served as the Chancellor of UAMS since November, 2009.
