President Trump has declared a Major Disaster for the March 14-15 and April 2 storms and tornadoes. As part of that declaration, FEMA is offering Individual Assistance for disaster survivors in the following counties: Greene, Hot Springs, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp, and Stone.

FEMA is supporting state and local recovery efforts for Arkansas homeowners and renters recovering from the March 14-15 and April 2-22 severe storms, tornadoes and flooding.
▪ FEMA has approved more than $8.6 million in federal assistance to Arkansas individuals and households for the March and April storms.
▪ Under the major disaster declared May 13, nine counties were designated for FEMA disaster assistance:Greene, Hot Spring, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp and Stone.
▪ Under the major disaster declared May 21, 16 counties were designated for FEMA disaster assistance:Clark, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Desha, Fulton, Hot Spring, Jackson, Miller, Ouachita, Pulaski, Randolph, St. Francis, Saline, Sharp and White.
▪ The SBA offers low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofit organizations to cover losses not fully covered by insurance and other sources. Apply online at SBA.gov/disaster, or call SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955. An additional SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center is located at City Hall, Conference Room, 201 S. Main St., Cave City, AR 72521 (entrance/parking at back); hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Friday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
▪ The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance for the March storms is Monday, July 14. The last day to apply for the April storms is Tuesday, July 22. Survivors affected by both disasters are encouraged to file a separate FEMA application for each disaster.
▪ As part of the disaster assistance process, FEMA must determine ownership and occupancy of the damaged primary residence. There are several ways Arkansans who were affected by the March and April storms, tornadoes and flooding can provide this information. ▪ Arkansas renters with losses not covered by insurance can apply for federal disaster assistance after the March and April storms. FEMA Individual Assistance is available to homeowners and renters, including students. To learn more, visit fema.gov/fact-sheet/renters-can-apply-fema-assistance-5
▪ Go to DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA App or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. CT. Help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service such as video relay service, captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for the service.

A simple way to provide missing or new information is to create an account at DisasterAssistance.gov. If you applied for assistance online or using the FEMA app, then you already have an account. Check your Disaster Assistance account regularly. Click on the ‘Check Status’ button on DisasterAssistance.gov to view your account at any time.
If you do not have internet access and/or need services not available on FEMA’s website, call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. Specialists speak many languages and phone lines are open from 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily. - May 16th, 2025 – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the opening of a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) in Sharp County to assist small businesses, private nonprofit (PNP) organizations, and residents affected by severe storms and tornadoes occurring March 14-15.
- May 19th, 2025 – Arkansas Secretary of Commerce Hugh McDonald announced that, as a result of Presidential Disaster Declaration FEMA-4865-DR, the Division of Reemployment is now accepting applications for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) from individuals whose employment or self-employment was lost or interrupted due to the severe storms and tornadoes that occurred March 14-15, 2025 in the following counties: Greene, Hot Spring, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp and Stone. Individuals must file DUA claims by July 7, 2025.
- May 21st, 2025 – President Trump delivers assistance to Arkansans recovering from the April 2 storms and flooding.
- May 23rd, 2025 – The state of Arkansas, FEMA and the Small Business Administration will add new locations in Greene and Sharp counties where residents can apply for federal assistance after the March 14-15 severe storms and tornadoes. They are also extending operating hours at five other sites.
