President Trump has declared a Major Disaster for the March 14-15 storms and tornadoes. As part of that declaration, FEMA is offering Individual Assistance for disaster survivors in the following counties: Greene, Hot Springs, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp, and Stone.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the opening of a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) in Sharp County to assist small businesses, private nonprofit (PNP) organizations, and residents affected by severe storms and tornadoes occurring March 14-15.

Arkansas Secretary of Commerce Hugh McDonald announced that, as a result of Presidential Disaster Declaration FEMA-4865-DR, the Division of Reemployment is now accepting applications for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) from individuals whose employment or self-employment was lost or interrupted due to the severe storms and tornadoes that occurred March 14-15, 2025 in the following counties: Greene, Hot Spring, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp and Stone.

Individuals must file DUA claims by July 7, 2025 at an Arkansas Workforce Center, 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, or online here. Claims filed after the deadline will be considered untimely and benefits denied unless the individual provides good cause for filing after that date.

The state of Arkansas, FEMA and the Small Business Administration have added new locations in Greene and Sharp counties where residents can apply for federal assistance after the March 14-15 severe storms and tornadoes. They are also extending operating hours at five other sites. For more information, click here.

Governor Sanders’ Actions

  • March 15th, 2025 – Governor Sanders signed an executive order to declare an emergency and authorize funds for severe storms and tornadoes.
  • March 15th, 2025 – Spoke with President Trump
  • March 15th, 2025 – Governor Sanders surveyed storm damage in Cave City and Paragould
  • March 15th, 2025 – Spoke with Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem 
  • March 15th, 2025 – Spoke with local officials from Independence, Greene, Jackson, and Randolph counties
  • March 15th, 2025 –Mobilized 70 Arkansas National Guardsmen to staff 13 severe weather response teams to assist local authorities in Sharp and Jackson counties

  • March 29th, 2025 – Governor Sanders submits an additional Disaster Declaration Request to President Trump
