Governor Sanders Encourages Expedited Approval of $100,000 Loan Application from Helena-West Helena to Fix the City’s Water System


LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders today encouraged the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC) to expedite a $100,000 loan for the city of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas to fix the city’s ongoing water system leaks.

“My administration is working quickly to help Helena-West Helena get its water system back on its feet,” said Governor Sanders.“We’ve deployed the Arkansas National Guard to provide potable water to the community and sent officials to examine the issue. The city has already applied for this loan and I have asked the ANRC to expedite it.”

The water system leaks are causing low water pressure for customers in the city of Helena-West Helena. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders deployed the Arkansas National Guard to supply potable water while the city addresses this issue. They were on site on Monday and worked with Walmart, which donated two truckloads of water to the community. The Governor instructed officials from her staff, the Arkansas Natural Resources Division, the Arkansas Department of Health, and the Rural Water Association to provide technical guidance and assistance. Water services have been restored and officials are striving to ensure continued service.
