WHEREAS:  Sport fishing and boating provides healthful recreation for more than sixty million Americans of all ages; 

WHEREAS: Fishing and boating promotes respect for our nation’s natural waters, wilderness, and wildlife;

WHEREAS: Fishing and boating are established recreational traditions rooted deeply in the history of our country and the hearts of our citizenry;

WHEREAS: Sport fishing and boating, through the payment of millions of dollars annually for licenses, taxes, and fees, have provided the funding for federal and state programs that contribute significantly to the preservation and protection of our natural environment; and

WHEREAS: June 3rd through June 11th, 2023, has been set as National Fishing and Boating Week.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State
Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas,
do hereby proclaim Noon, June 9th until midnight, June 11th, 2023, as

 

“FREE FISHING WEEKEND”

 
and urge the citizens of the state to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
