Readout of the Governor’s Cabinet Meeting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.— Following the Governor’s meeting with her Cabinet, Sanders’ spokeswoman Alexa Henning released the following readout:

“This afternoon, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders held a meeting with her Cabinet secretaries at the Capitol. She hosted a discussion with secretaries on their agencies’ preparations for the April 8th solar eclipse and the opportunities and challenges that will arise from this statewide event. Parks, Heritage, and Tourism Secretary Shea Lewis discussed his department’s preparations for the large number of tourists likely to come to the Natural State to enjoy the eclipse. Secretaries Hagar and Mallory from the Departments of Public Safety and Health, respectively, discussed their work with stakeholders to ensure that all Arkansans are safe and healthy during the event and that first responders can respond to emergencies effectively. AJ Gary, the Director of Arkansas’ Division of Emergency Management, discussed emergency personnel’s preparation for the large-scale event. The Governor also invited Director Lori Tudor of the Arkansas Department of Transportation to the meeting to discuss the potential for high traffic volume and her department’s work to manage congestion. The Governor ended the meeting by thanking the secretaries and Directors Gary and Tudor for their work and encouraging continued cooperation on this issue, which has the potential to bring over a million tourists to Arkansas.”
