Readout of the Governor’s Meeting with Arkansas Elected Prosecutors

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Following the Governor’s meeting with Arkansas elected prosecutors, State Senator Ben Gilmore, and State Representative Jimmy Gazaway, Sanders’ spokeswoman Alexa Henning released the following readout:

“This morning, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders met with Arkansas elected prosecutors alongside State Senator Ben Gilmore and State Representative Jimmy Gazaway to discuss public safety in the Natural State. The Governor described the details of her Safer, Stronger Arkansas legislative package, including plans to toughen sentencing for violent felons, increase charges for killer drug dealers, and build a new, 3,000-bed prison, which the prosecutors expressed would help begin the process of reducing violent crime. The prosecutors spoke about the challenges they face in Arkansas’ current criminal justice environment and mentioned the issues they see with repeat offenders and overly light sentences for unreformed criminals. Governor Sanders thanked the prosecutors for their work and expressed her enthusiasm for their close partnership moving forward.”
