Readout of the Governor’s Visit to J.F. Wahl Elementary School

HELENA-WEST-HELENA, Ark. – Following Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ visit to J.F. Wahl Elementary School in Helena-West Helena, Ark., Sanders’ spokeswoman Alexa Henning released the following statement:

“Today, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders visited and toured J.F. Wahl Elementary School in Helena-West Helena with Secretary of Education Jacob Oliva and a bipartisan group of legislators including, Sen. Murdock, Sen. Chesterfield, Sen. English, Sen. Davis, and Rep. Brooks. The delegation also held a roundtable with parents, educators, and community leaders at the school to discuss the state of education in Arkansas, the need for bold reforms, and making sure that no child is ever trapped in a lifetime of poverty. The school district was taken over by the state in July of 2022 after being classified as needing the highest level of state support. Governor Sanders emphasized her plan—Arkansas LEARNS—which will improve childhood literacy, empower parents, recruit and retain hardworking teachers, prepare kids for the workforce, increase access to broadband, and prioritize school safety. The Governor emphasized her commitment to the students, teachers, and staff of J.F. Wahl Elementary School and thanked them for the opportunity to visit.”
