Sanders Announces Additional Senior Staff Appointments

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Governor-elect Sarah Huckabee Sanders today announced additional appointments to her senior staff in the governor’s office.
 
“I’m pleased to announce that these talented Arkansans and public servants will join the other members of my senior team to help advance an agenda focused on freedom and empowerment,” said Sanders. 
 
Senior Staff Appointments:
 
Legislative Director Jamie Barker, who serves in the same capacity in the transition office, served as Political Director on the Sarah for Governor campaign. He was born and raised in Smackover and has worked on campaigns for U.S. Senator Tom Cotton (Ark.) and Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, as well as former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee’s 2016 presidential campaign. Jamie has also previously served as Political Director for the Republican Party of Arkansas. He is a past chairman of the Arkansas Federation of Young Republicans and past member of the state party’s executive committee. He also is a former political consultant with the Arkansas-based firm, JCD Consulting.
 
Director of Cabinet Affairs Leslie Fisken served as Chief of Legislative Affairs for the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. She also worked in governmental relations at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and served as an education policy advisor to Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson. Prior to legislative and policy work, Leslie was a member of the Little Rock School District Board of Education. Leslie is a graduate of Little Rock Central High School, earned her Bachelor of Arts from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, and received her Juris Doctor from the William H. Bowen School of Law.
 
Director of Boards & Commissions Alex Flemister, who is serving in the same capacity in the Office of the Governor-elect, joined the transition after serving as Director of Operations on the Sarah for Governor campaign. He has spent his career in both the public and private sectors. Before joining the campaign, Alex served as Associate Director for the White House Office of Public Liaison under President Donald J. Trump where he was the liaison for the business, veteran, and AAPI communities. Alex is a Little Rock native and a graduate of the University of Arkansas Walton College of Business.
 
Policy Director Jack Sisson, who currently serves as the Policy Director in the transition office and served as Policy Advisor on the Sarah for Governor campaign, is a public affairs professional and consultant with more than 15 years of experience at the state and federal levels. In Washington, D.C., he served as health policy advisor to U.S. Senator John Boozman (Ark.) and aide to then-U.S. Senator Sam Brownback (Kas.). Jack also worked as an advisor to former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and Representative French Hill (AR-02).
