Sanders Announces Mena as Arkansas’ Capital for a Day on October 20th

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME – GREETINGS:

WHEREAS:    
Mena, Arkansas, was founded in the late 19th century and serves as the county seat of Polk County. It grew quickly after railroad tracks were laid through Western Arkansas and travelers flocked to the region;

WHEREAS:    Mena is today the gateway to Arkansas’ Ouachita National Forest, bringing tourists into one of the Natural State’s premier outdoor recreation locations. It is also a local center for agriculture and manufacturing; 

WHEREAS:    Governor Sanders’ “Capital for a Day” program highlights great cities around Arkansas like Mena and brings senior state government officials into town to meet with their local counterparts and to ensure that adequate services are provided to all Arkansans; and

WHEREAS:    Mena will serve as the first “Capital for a Day” under Governor Sanders and will momentarily serve as Arkansas’ seat of government.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby name Mena, Arkansas, our Capital for a Day on October 20th, 2023, and invite our senior state government officials to join me in a visit to the city.
